Colorado Voters Approve Ballot Issue 7A to Fund CoCo Passenger Rail
Blake
We are incredibly pleased to see Ballot Issue 7A pass. By approving a 0.333% sales tax across the Front Range Passenger Rail District, voters have unlocked the dedicated funding needed to bring full passenger rail service to life—connecting communities from Fort Collins all the way to Pueblo.
According to the FRPR District’s Delivery Plan, service will roll out in a phased approach:
- Phase 1: Starter Service (Targeted for 2029)Launches the northern line with 3 daily round trips between Denver Union Station and Fort Collins, serving 8 stations: Denver Union Station, Westminster, Broomfield, Louisville, Boulder, Longmont, Loveland, and Fort Collins.
- Phase 2: Full Service (Targeted for 2032)Expands the corridor south while increasing northern frequency. It introduces 2 daily round trips between Denver, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo, adding 5 new stations: Littleton, Sterling Ranch, North Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo.
- Phases 3–5: Expanded Service (Full Buildout)Maximizes capacity and frequency across the entire corridor, scaling up to 10 daily round trips between Fort Collins and Denver, and 8 daily round trips between Denver and Pueblo.
We hope Colorado Rail Game played a small part in building enthusiasm for this milestone. More importantly, we hope it helped people envision a future where you don’t need a car to travel between our cities—a future with a calm, affordable, and easy ride that is far more reliable than sitting in I-25 traffic.
